I'm Anna Kathryn!
I am the 30-something wife of the amazing youth pastor I always dreamed of marrying, mommy of THE sweetest two year old {used to be two pound} little lady, new foster mommy of literally the most precious baby boy with the chubbiest cheeks I have ever seen, and a terribly underserving adopted daughter of Christ. I am here to ramble about this journey I'm on and the mercies revealed to me in our every day.
Some background?
I grew up in Georgia with super awesome parents who taught me to love Jesus and love others... and a super awesome big sister who taught me to love her. ;) There is not a time in my life that I don't remember a strong call from the Lord to care for children in crisis. Growing up as a 'house parent's kid' at a children's home in Georgia led to working at two private Christian children's home in Tennessee and Georgia and one state funded group home in Louisiana. These experiences revealed in new and fascinating ways my own adoption in Christ as well as my desire to answer the call He placed on my life as a child. That would come later though, after what would end up being the most valuable and oh so traumatic experience of my adulthood... the birth of our daughter ten weeks early. Her birth story and first seven weeks of life changed me from the very fibers that keep my heart beating. During those weeks I believe the Lord grew me and prepared me for things yet to come. I cried every day and cry when I go back there, but would not trade one second of it. When she came home and our lives hit some type of normalcy, the hubby and I quickly sought foster certification and we recently received our first foster child. This, too, has been a life changing experience and an incredible blessing that I'm thrilled to share here, at Everyday Mercies!
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
great is your faithfulness.
